Knott’s Soak City Water Park Supports the YMCAs of Orange County

Buena Park, CA (Vocus) June 5, 2010

Turn up the heat, here comes the fun! There will be rides, slides and plenty of fun in the sun in Buena Park this summer as Knotts Soak City and the YMCA of Orange County team up for the 2nd Annual Rubber Ducky Derby.

On June 24, the Orange County YMCAs have planned a special summer field trip to Soak City. Over two hundred kids who have helped to support fund-raising efforts for the Rubber Ducky Derby on June 26 will be able to participate in special activities. The Y kids will get into Soak City two hours before the park opens to the public for some early morning fun in the sun and safety lessons from the Orange County Fire Authority, Soak City lifeguards and YMCA swim instructors.

On June 26, thousands of rubber ducks will be let loose in the 1,700 foot Sunset River at Knotts Soak City in a race to the finish line. A portion of the proceeds raised from the ducky sponsorships will go to support the YMCAs Child Care Services programs at eight Orange County facilities.

The YMCA has been offering services to the residents of Orange County since the first facility in Santa Ana was founded in the 1880s. Today the YMCA of Orange County has 8 branches, serves 85,000 residents of Orange County annually, is the largest provider of licensed school-age child care in the county, and has program offerings in 100+ locations spanning the county.

Tickets for the Rubber Ducky Derby can be purchased at any YMCA facility in Orange County and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization. Each ticket purchased includes a duck sponsorship and enters participants for a chance to win great prizes including theme park tickets, sporting event tickets and gift certificates. Regular admission tickets are $ 21.99 and Junior (3-11)/Senior (62+) admission is $ 19.99. Tickets are valid any day through July 4, 2010 and participants need not be present on the day of the race to win. For more information on Knotts Soak City, visit http://www.knotts.com.
