Lol, just finished my last lifeguard exam today. Took it through American red cross, and how much did it cost me? Only 1 week and roughly $200. Cmon, $2000? You might seriously be taking unneeded training. XD

Also, each course is 500$ roughly, and you will have to pass one course, then apply for the other. You cant apply all at once. Its much harder than it sounds like.
If you want to become a swim instructor, get one more course which has TONSSS of memorization also :)
If you did all this, congratulations. It is A LOT OF WORK

  5. glitches123 says:

    You will need 2000~3000$
Step 1: Get the 3 courses
Step 2: If you are under 13, take 1 more course
Step 3: Do all these courses which take roughly 1~2 years depending on how many lessons you have each week
Step 4: STUDY A LOT. There is A LOT of material you have to memorize!
Step 5: PASS ALL THE 3 EXAMS. If you fail one course, you have to fully redo it
Step 7: Apply for a job after a long time of working, and get paid better than other teen/young adult jobs out there! roughly 2000~3000$ monthly

So I was a lifeguard over the summer, if you’re looking for advice, the only thing you really need to look out for is parents who break the rules with their kids. Because if they get injured at all, all the blame will be on you, so make sure they don’t go fucking around.

    1. You can’t wear binikis as a lifeguard.
    2. Doesn’t matter if you’re good with people or not.
    3. A lifeguard job is way more than that.
    4. DO NOT TRUST HOWCAST TO SAVE LIFES!

ellis certified!! love my job as a lifeguard at six flags great escape and splashwater kingdom

  16. ampdgmr says:

Yes but as a lifeguard I can tell you excessive splashing totally blocks the visibility of the pool floor.. basically it’s just a distraction we really don’t need. I mean, at my pool I wouldn’t tell you to stop splashing.. but it makes it allot easier when we can see everything.

  17. CAPSLOCKBRO says:

    “and a good attitude”

I’ve never met a lifeguard who wasn’t a total dick. I realize there’s morons breaking the rules all the time and all for fun, but splashing my friend in the shallow end will not cause a nuclear holocaust.

  18. randompersonsayhi says:

I thought life guards were supposed to be hot

  19. MrHondogarcia says:
