Mao’s Red Guards

From the film Morning Sun. The film Morning Sun attempts in the space of a two-hour documentary film to create an inner history of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (c.1964-1976). It provides a multi-perspective view of a tumultuous period as seen through the eyes—and reflected in the hearts and minds—of members of the high-school generation that was born around the time of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, and that came of age in the 1960s. Others join them in creating in the film’s conversation about the period and the psycho-emotional topography of high-Maoist China, as well as the enduring legacy of that period.

Ive done extensive research on the Red Guards. They were fighting against thousands of years of reactionary culture that oppressed the masses not to mention discriminated against females and children. Their movement was the movement of the youth, the youths power to lead was fully engaged. That was why it was powerful, and at times reckless.

  6. WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 says:

Mao liked to present himself as ‘one of the peasants’ but behind the scenes this ruthless bastard enjoyed a life of luxury- he had swimming pools, girls, and his propaganda machine hugely exaggerated his roles in the 2nd Sino-Japanese War

Mao saw people as mere statistics

his proponents say he doubled the population of China… why is that a good thing?

His policies directly and deliberately killed millions. Fact

Mao Zedong can go to hell

  7. WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 says:

It wasn’t just the landlords who suffered. Anyone ‘perceived’ to not have been revolutionary enough were persecuted as well- even the Red Guards own parents. Thousands were driven to suicide because they did not conform.

Whatever way you try to gloss it over, innocent people suffered in that time

The CCP continues to torture, censor and deny free expression. That in itself proves their guilt. Personally I will open champagne when this anti-human regime falls.

    China WILL change

  8. WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 says:

For many, the 1960s was a time of youth of free love, of hippies and rock festivals

But in Red China, it was a dark, brutal period. A time of fanatical hysteria, a time of widespread persecution, torture, deeply entrenched propaganda and brainwashing

China today, thankfully, is a very different country.

But as long as the blood-drenched Communist Party has absolute power, it has a long way to go

  10. ComradeMiller says:

I always liked Mao’s idea of destroying the old world to build the new. You guys see them destroying culture. They felt that they were ridding their nation of the remnants of a bygone era, an era built on the exploitation and slavery of the people. I feel for them.

  11. jacobscamell says:

The people here saying what the Red Guards did to the Landlords was disgusting have not read enough history of pre-revolutionary China, the peasants were forced to give almost all of their grain to the landlords with little left for themselves – if they failed a harvest they went into debt with interest – during droughts the landlords charged for the use of wells – children were enslaved in sweatshops in the cities literally chained to work benches. They deserved everything they got.
