Using an effective MLM script will seriously impact the results youre able to get from your prospecting efforts. Knowing exactly what youre going to say when youre on the phone or speaking to someone in person has several major benefits.
A Good MLM Script Will Give You More Confidence
By using a script, you allow yourself to get comfortable talking to other people because youre basically saying the same thing in every conversation. One of the biggest challenges you might be facing is how to get the conversation started. The right script will guild you on exactly what to say from the very first word.
If you practice enough on real, live calls youll soon find that youre becoming more comfortable allowing the conversation to flow and that youre responding in a very natural way to what your prospect is saying to you. I started with a script and still follow one very closely to this day. But my script is written in my head and comes out effortlessly. Unless youve listened to several of my prospecting calls, youd hardly know that Im following a script. Thats the trick: to get so good at having the same conversation that you dont have to consciously think about it anymore. What happens when you reach this point is that you can have the same conversation over and over again, but it will always sound like youre having it for the very first time.
Your MLM Script Should be Well Rehearsed
If this idea sounds confusing to you, then you need to get more practice and using a good MLM script will help you. I suggest you spend a little time role playing with your sponsor, mentor, business partner or even a good friend. Here are some tips that will help:
1) Start out by being the one making the calls. Go through your script several times just to get the feel of it. You might consider doing this step in front of a mirror, just to see what you look like. Even if your prospect is on the phone, they can detect your mood and attitude just from the sound of your voice.
2) Switch sides and pretend to be the prospect. Have your practice partner pretend to be the one calling you. This way, you can hear what it sounds like to be asked the questions. This also has the benefit of putting you into your prospects shoes so you can see what theyre seeing.
3) Record yourself. Listening to yourself will give you a fresh perspective and allow you the chance to “replay” your script. This can be especially helpful if you dont have a ton of people to call right now. But I think it has tremendous value even for the seasoned telephone professional.

Notice that we do certain things like ask lots of questions, keep the conversation light, have fun and never sell a single thing. Yet were very effective at getting people to sign up in our business using this exact same approach. I firmly believe it works so well precisely because we dont sell anything.

“Hello is X available? This is Mary Black calling from Atlanta, Ga.”
“Hey, X. Im calling because you put your name and phone number into one of my websites where I provide information on how to build a business online. Do you currently have a home based business or are you looking to start one?” (Ask specific questions about their situation based on the answers they give you.)
“Great! What I do is I help people just like you figure out how to use the internet to build their home business. If I could show you a way to (insert what theyre trying to accomplish) is that something youd be open to taking a look at?”
Depending on the responses you get, take them through the steps of getting to your tools (presentation, DVD, meeting etc.).
