Announcing the Launch of Kiya Sports: Women Teaching Women to Paddleboard in a Fun and Supportive Environment

El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) March 02, 2012

Kathryn Tubbs announced the launch of Kiya Sports today. Kiya Sports (http://www.kiyasports.com) will provide local and destination Paddle Camps, Lessons, Training, Races and Gear Sales to women interested in the sport of paddleboarding. Standup Paddleboarding is currently the largest growing segment of the surf industry and over 50% of the buyers are women.

Kiya Sports all-female staff and instructors will teach both Prone and Standup (SUP) paddleboarding to beginners and competitive paddlers alike. The company will also offer Training Programs for first time racers, Fitness Paddling Programs for recreational paddlers and quarterly races with full womens divisions.

This is a milestone for our sport, said Kathryn Tubbs, founder and Kiya Sports President. Women comprise a large portion of sales in the fast-growing paddleboard industry but never before has a company offered comprehensive programming especially geared towards women.

Kiya Sports was created to meet the needs of women in the male dominated sport of paddleboarding. Kiya Sports will offer local, half & full day Paddle Camps in the protected harbors of Long Beach and Marina Del Rey and 3-day Destination Camps on Catalina Island. Kiya Sports will also offer Lessons and Weekly Training Programs for novice paddlers to foster the continued growth of women in paddleboarding.

While most paddleboard races only offer one womans division, if any at all, Kiya Sports will organize 4 quarterly paddleboard races with full womens board length and age group divisions. Kiya Sports offers more comprehensive programming and is more supportive of womens needs than any other company in the paddleboard industry to date.

The companys first paddleboard race, Kiya Sports 1st Annual Belmont Shore Splash & Dash, will be held in Long Beach on Saturday, April 14, 2012. The race will feature a 6 mile loop course around three oil islands in the protected waters off of Peninsula Beach and a 1.5 mile fun race, designed for first time racers. There will also be a raffle fundraiser to benefit the Long Beach Junior Lifeguard Program. Men are welcome to participate in any of the Kiya Sports paddleboard races. Participants can register online for the race at http://www.kiyasports.com/events/races.

Ten percent of all Kiya Sports proceeds will be donated to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Related Disorders, Inc. (ANAD) to support their education and awareness programs that encourage women of all shapes and sizes to participate in watersports.
