There is much to see and to do in Mexico. There are some things that you need to know when you are looking to be an expat Mexico. The more you know before you move here, the more prepared you can be and the more you can fit in.
Many people know that Spanish is the language they speak. The climate is quite hot so be prepared for warm weather. Now, let’s look at how you are going to get there. There are a few ways that you can get here. Depending on where you are coming from, driving might be an option that is open to you. Others might find that they are able to fly into Mexico. Others might even be able to take a boat. These are a few options that you have.
There are many who find that the cost to live in Mexico isn’t all that high. You will find that you can easily rent. When you compare the price of renting in Mexico to the amount you pay in the United States, you will find that this is lower than you might expect. You can even buy food for far less than you might find that you pay other places.
If you are looking to be an expat Mexico, you will have the proper documentation like one might know. There is a non-immigrant visa. The FM3 is the best way to do this. This gives you one year in there then you have to renew this. Now, there is the immigrant visa which is considered the FM2. This allows you to reside here for a year. You will be an immigrant and not eligible for things like health care and such. Now, the thing with both FM3 and FM2 is that after five years of renewing this, you can become a citizen here.
In order for you to be able to work when you get to Mexico, you do have to have a work permit. If you don’t, you can be deported. In order to get one of these, they say that you do have to be fluent in Spanish. This is the only way that you are going to securely get a job. The wages for when you work here might be lower than what you are used to also. The biggest job that some are looking for someone to fill would be someone that can come in to teach people who are native to hear the English language.
Something else that might throw you for a loop that they don’t do when it comes to the way they rent out housing would be that they don’t have you sign a lease in most cases. This is something that many of us are so used to doing. Instead, they will ask for a deposit and first month’s rent which isn’t so different. The other thing you want to know more about would be the utilities. You will find when you are looking to move to Mexico that electricity is all over the place. Learning about how much you are going to have to pay depends on where you live. When you look at the cost of water you will find you are billed every two months. This too depends on where you live. If you are wondering if you should rent or buy, the big thing you want to look at is how much you are going to pay.
